Sing to Me, Muse

My blogging muse must have departed for parts unknown, as I have been uninspired and uninspiring for about a week now. So here's a quick recap of events chez Bookhart:

  • Wonder Boy has a crick in his neck which will not allow him to straighten his head. Some kind of weird muscle cramp--he gets these periodically on the tail end of a cold. Nothing seems to help except time. But, walking around with his head at a permanent right-degree angle makes him look like a candidate for the short bus. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) Plus, he lost one of his top front teeth on Sunday, and the other one is so loose that it's sideways in his mouth--I am having to physically restrain myself from forcing his mouth open and yanking that sucker right out. So he's snaggle-toothed and twisted to the side. And guess what tomorrow is? School picture day!
  • Her Majesty has thrush in her mouth, caused by a plethora of antibiotics over the past month. Not a serious illness, but the kind that makes her cranky and clingy. And whiney. Especially whiney. Like for the entire weekend whiney. Like, from morning 'til night whiney. This was especially annoying this weekend because I took her to the pediatrician on Friday, where she got a prescription to help her, only to find out after checking with pharmacies throughout the city and online that the medicine prescribed had been discontinued 3 years ago. Which made me really happy. So we had to wait until today to get the problem fixed.
  • I didn't get the promotion at work I was angling for. Mild disappointment aside, I actually don't have a problem with this decision. I managed to raise my profile in the organization by initially stepping forward, however, and, without going into too much detail, I am going to get to play a larger role at work and will probably have a little more in my take-home check.
  • I redesigned the sidebar on my blog. Go take a look at it--it's there on your right. I'm planning to reorganize the weblinks at some point--in some kind of twisted Dewey Decimal order. Or maybe just alphabetically. Alphabetically would probably make more sense.
  • I hit some kind of emotional and physical wall last Thursday at about 4:00 p.m., and realized that I had to get away from the office. I took Friday off, and spent most of Friday, a good part of Saturday, and Sunday house-cleaning. And, as fucked up as this might sound, I really enjoyed it. I cleaned things that I don't remember the last time I cleaned them. I took 4 huge trash bags of toys to Goodwill, eliminated 3/4 of the rust stain behind the toilet in our bathroom, went through all of the piles of paper that had accumulated on the kitchen counters, and even organized the cabinet under the bathroom sink! This evening when we got home the house smelled like cleaning product instead of old socks.

So just would the name of the blogging muse be?

  • Is there a difference between hope and trust?

How about your 7 defining moments? Five most influental people? Favorite memories of the kids?

That should give you just about as much tangential material as me...

  • I love to get my clean on like that. Like pull-out-the-appliances-and-get-back-there clean. But, of course, I'm nuts.

  • How wierd. I got into a cleaning frenzy this weekend too. Like, I totally scrubbed the shower and the bathroom and straightened alot of clothes and tidied my desk.

And my eyebrows. first time self tweezing!

  • PS I'm about to post a meme...I'll tag your ass.

  • The Muse has been absent around here too. Like since school started! Okay, if Thalia is not our Muse, let's by golly make up our own. Surely, after all, more have been born in the last few thousand years? Must ponder.

So the vision of WB, crick in the neck and loose tooth flipping in and out, won't leave my brain. I'm so sorry about the medicine debacle. Yikes.

  • She who inspires blogs is not a Muse. Rather she is a Sylph, and her name is Indugia.

  • First, does that neck-crick thing sound FAMILIAR???

Second, I would have an orgasm if I could spend two days at home alone, cleaning every surface. Call me weird.

Third, are you watching Project Runway tonight? Michael got braces. Ouch.
